Murphey Candler Baseball Fall Season Overview
Murphey Candler Baseball, Inc. (“MCB”) will make changes to the structure of its Fall Season in 2023. MCB will now divide its Fall Season into two separate playing options for participants.
Fall Recreation League
The primary goal of the Recreation League is to give an opportunity to players/families desiring a recreational and developmental Fall program that focuses on player instruction, development and improvement. The Recreation League will operate in a manner similar to previous years with additional player instruction. Below is a summary of the structure:
• Practices – 8 practices plus 2 additional player clinics
• Games – 8 games played plus the end-of-season Rosa Tournament
• Number of Teams – Based on registration numbers
• Team Size – Lower Leagues (12-13), Upper Leagues (11)
• Manager/CoR Selection – Based upon volunteers and previous experience
• Registration process – No change from the existing process
• Cost – Registration Fees proposed and approved during Oct. ’22 MCB Board Meeting. See below.
The fall baseball season begins on August 12, 2023, with practices. Games will start the weekend of August 19th and end with the Patrick Rosa Memorial Tournament on October 21, 2023. The following weekends will not have events at Murphey Candler Park: September 3-4 (Labor Day Weekend) and October 8-9 (Dekalb County School District Fall Break).
League Age
League assignment is based on each player’s age as of April 30, 2024. Leagues are formed for players of league ages 5 through 12. Players will be placed in the league where their birthdate falls, with no exceptions to play in a different age league.
Player Requests
Our League Directors form teams in the fall league. New players in the Southern League can email player requests to
[email protected]. All requests cannot be granted.
Registration Fees for Fall 2023

Southern League Age 5 – $150
Atlantic, International, and Coastal League Ages 6 thru 8 – $200
AA, AAA, and Major Leagues Ages 9 thru 12 – $215
Frontier – $130
Registration Dates
Murphey Candler Fall Baseball Registration will open June 1, 2023, and will continue through July 15, 2023. Starting July 15, 2023, a $50 late registration fee will be added to the regular registration fees. We typically fill one or more of our leagues before the late registration date. Registrations will be waitlisted once a league is full.
Fall Tournament Team
The primary goal of the Fall Tournament Teams is to give an opportunity to players/families desiring a competitive Fall program similar to the Tournament Team experience provided over the Summer. The Fall Tournament Teams will operate in a manner similar to Summer Tournament Teams but with different team size and player composition. Below is a summary of the structure:
8-9U
• Participation - Only 2023 Summer Tournament Team players are eligible to participate in the evaluation process and also MUST register and participate in the Fall Recreation League.
• Practices – 1 weekly Saturday practice (Recreation Program off-weeks only) and 1 variable weekday practice (pending field availability)
• Games – Teams will register for between 4 and 8 Sunday-only tournaments (players will not participate in every tournament)
• Number of Teams – 1
• Team Size – 15 Players (only 12 will be rostered for each tournament)
• Team Name – Murphey Candler Brewers
• Uniforms – MCB will provide one Murphey Candler Brewers jersey to each player. Hats, pants and socks will be the same as the Summer Tournament Teams; thus, each player should have sufficient items.
• Evaluations – A one-day evaluation will take place tentatively on either August 12th or August 19th. Composite player rankings will be provided by the League Director (for assigned MCB league), MCB Player Agent, MCB Gold Sox Manager, MCB Gold Sox CoR, MCB Blue Sox Manager and MCB Blue Sox CoR (6 total) will be averaged for each player.
• Player Selection – Top 13 ranked players from one-day evaluation, plus 2 manager’s selections.
• Manager/CoR Selection – Based upon MCB Board of Directors selection and approval.
• Registration process – Register for Fall Recreation Program
• Cost – $100 (tournament registration fees are separate and will be managed on a team-by-team basis) in addition to the Fall Recreation League registration fee.
10U
• Participation - Only 2023 Summer Tournament Team players are eligible to participate in the evaluation process.

• Number of Teams – 2
• Team Size – 15 Players on 1st team and up to 18 Players on 2nd team (only 11-12 will be rostered for each tournament)
• Team Name – Murphey Candler Brewers (1st team), Murphey Candler Bears (2nd team)
• Uniforms – MCB will provide one Murphey Candler Brewers blue jersey or Murphey Candler Bears gold jersey to each player. Hats, pants and socks will be the same as the Summer Tournament Teams; thus, each player should have sufficient items.
• Evaluations – A one-day evaluation will take place tentatively on either August 12th or August 19th. Composite player rankings will be provided by the League Director (for assigned MCB league), MCB Player Agent, MCB Gold Sox Manager, MCB Gold Sox CoR, MCB Blue Sox Manager, MCB Blue Sox CoR, MCB White Sox Manager and MCB White Sox CoR (8 total) will be averaged for each player.

• Team composition will remain the same as the 2023 Summer Tournament Teams.
• Players may also play Fall Recreation League as well, if desired.
• Registration process – Register for Fall Recreation Program ONLY if you intend to play in BOTH Fall Recreation League and Fall Tournament Team. Register for Fall Tournament team ONLY if you intend to play Fall Tournament Team ONLY.
