Each fall, Murphey Candler provides an excellent experience for approximately 700 youth across nine leagues, based on age. The primary goal of the Recreation League is to give an opportunity to players and families desiring a recreational and developmental Fall program that focuses on player instruction, development and improvement. The Recreation League will operate in a manner similar to previous years with additional player instruction. Below is a summary of the structure:

 

• Practices – Weekly practices will be on Sundays

• Games – 8 games played plus the end-of-season Rosa Tournament

• Number of Teams – Based upon registration numbers

• Team Size – Lower Leagues (12-13), Upper Leagues (11)

Fall Recreation Baseball at Murphey Candler is a weekend activity, with all events at Murphey Candler Park. Teams play games on Saturdays and have practices on Sunday afternoons. Times for both practices and games will vary from week to week. The fall program is a great chance for players to keep their skills sharp, try new positions, and familiarize themselves with new league rules. It is particularly beneficial for rising 9-year-old players expecting to play at the AA level in the fall, as it provides an excellent opportunity to be exposed to their first year of kid pitch before the spring season.

Season Dates

The fall baseball season begins in early August and will conclude in late October.

League Age 

League assignment is based on each player’s age as of April 30, 2025. Leagues are formed for players of league ages 5 through 12. Players will be placed in the league where their birthdate falls, with no exceptions to play in a different age league.

Our League Directors form teams in the fall league. New players in the Southern League can email player requests to [email protected]. However, not all requests can be granted.
