League Boundaries Murphey Candler Baseball operates under Dizzy Dean Baseball. A map showing the precise boundary is on display in the Murphey Candler Baseball field house. Generally speaking, our boundaries include most of northeast DeKalb County (with the exception of a portion of Brookhaven in the Mabry Road./Brookhaven Drive area). That area covers all or part of the following zip codes – 30319, 30338, 30340, 30341, 30345, 30346 and 30360.

Murphey Candler Baseball’s boundary also encompasses: the portion of Gwinnett County north of Highway 141 (essentially the 30092 and 30360 zip codes and a small portion of 30096); the portion of the 30342 zip code area that lies outside of the City of Atlanta (i.e. the rectangle formed by the DeKalb County line to the east, Lake Forrest Drive to the west, I-285 to the north, and the City of Atlanta line to the south); a portion of DeKalb County in the 30329 and 30324 zip code areas that is bounded on the south by LaVista Road and on the east by Skyland Drive and Clairmont Road; and portions of the 30328 and 30350 zip codes that are east of GA 400.

History Murphey Candler Baseball was established in 1958. Since then, our Major Division tournament teams have won four state championships and fourteen District 9 and District 2 championships and one 10 year old state championship.

Philosophy Although we are very proud of that winning tradition, it is secondary to providing a program where each child, regardless of ability, can enjoy the great game of baseball in a positive and caring atmosphere. We want our coaches to instill the will to excel through teamwork, fair play, and learning the skills of the game. Nevertheless, our primary objective is recreational, that is, for kids to play and have fun.

Seasons Murphey Candler Baseball operates a traditional Spring season for league play with events running from mid-February through late May. After the Spring season has ended, we have tournament teams that participate in organized tournaments against other baseball programs in the area. Murphey Candler Baseball also operates a Fall season with events on Saturdays and Sundays from late August through October.
