MCLL Volunteer Positions

Murphey Candler works because of the outstanding efforts of our volunteers. At the beginning of each season, the Manager will be asking for volunteers to fill several positions on each team. In order to make the season enjoyable and run smoothly as well, it is important to fill every job. Remember, this is your league!!!

 
Team Parent
The Team Parent will assist the Manager with telephone calls throughout the season, coordinate Opening Day activities, remind the other team volunteers of their assigned meetings, and plan the end-of-the-season party. This individual also is responsible for collecting money from team parents for the budget, administering concession coupons to players at the end of each games, and purchasing end-of-year gifts.
 
Business Manager
The Business Manager is responsible for selling and distributing the yearbook to the team members.This individual also sells advertising and Team Sponsorhips for the Yearbook.
 
Team Reporter
This person is responsible for reporting game information and team news for the MCLL newsletter, "The Pitch".
 
Family Day Manager
This position is responsible for assigning volunteers to either work or provide food, raffle items, etc. for Family Day. The annual Family Day is a fun time for all with rides, games, raffle prizes, and great food.
 
Picture Day Manager
This position is responsible for coordinating all aspects of "picture day", including recording all players names and distributing the picture packages to each player's family.
 
Field Representative
Although DeKalb County provides general maintenance of the fields, additional work is needed. An MCLL Board member is assigned as a field representative to each field, but they can always use some help, which is where the team field representatives come in.
 
Umpire
Although we use paid umpires in our kid pitch leagues, the umpires in our younger leagues are volunteers.
 
Scorekeeper
The scorekeeper keeps the scorebook for each team.
