League Structure

MCLL is organized into seven leagues. We believe that children enjoy the game most when they are playing with other children with similar skills. Accordingly, the leagues are not strictly divided by age group and children may be moved to a higher or lower age league based on this belief.

Southern League
The Southern League is a T-Ball League for 5 and 6 year olds. Games and practices are limited to two events per week.

International League
The International League is primarily for 7 year olds and some 6 year olds. The ball is pitched by a machine and has a softer core than a regular baseball. Games and practices are limited to three events per week (which is the case for all higher leagues as well, with the exception of the National League).

Coastal League
The Coastal League is for 8 year olds and some 9 year olds. It is also a machine pitch league, but a regular baseball is used and the field is larger. Base stealing is also allowed on a limited basis.

Double A
Double A is our first kid-pitch league. It is comprised primarily of 9 year olds. The rules are modified to reflect the inexperience of the pitchers. Beginning with this league, players are selected to each team by a draft.

Triple A
Triple A is for 10, 11 and some 12 year olds. The Triple A League has its own field, but also shares time on our "Major" field with the Major League. The Triple A League is divided into the National Division and the American Division. The season includes interdivisional play and the "World Series" championship game between the winners of each Division's playoffs.

Major League
The Major League is our highest and most competitive level of play. All 11 and 12 year olds are eligible to try out for the Major League, but team numbers and roster space do limit the total number of participants in the Major League. Once the evaluations are over, teams will be formed by means of a draft. Eleven year olds drafted onto a Major team return to that team the following year. Managers have the option of calling an extra practice (for a total of no more than 4 events per week). Eleven year olds not drafted into Major will be drafted into the Triple A League. Player Agents and League Directors may work with parents to place some 12 year olds who they believe would have a better overall experience, in the Triple A League. Like Triple A, the Major League is divided into the National Division and the American Division. The season includes interdivisional play and the "World Series" championship game between the winners of each Division's playoffs.
