Congratulations to Murphey's Candler's own Bruce Jackson!

Bruce Jackson was selected by the Atlanta Braves as one of Two Atlanta Community Coaches of the Year. Bruce is the manager of the Challenger Owls and may be the only manager in Murphey Candler History to go undefeated.

As a part of his award, the Braves made a donation of $1,000 to Murphey Candler Little League. We encourage all of you to come out and watch the Owls in action and see why Bruce and the rest of the Owls are deserving of this high honor. Go Owls!!

Pitch Count Procedures for 2008

Coaches- Please read the following and direct any questions to your League Director:


1. Pitch counting is mandatory. Scorekeeping is optional.

2. The Pitch Counter and the Scorekeeper are separate positions.

3. You should have a volunteer at each game whose only responsibility is counting pitches. Your scorekeeper should also count pitches as a backup.

4. Pitch Counters count the pitches of both team’s pitchers.

5. The visiting team pitch counter is the Official Pitch Counter (“OPC”).

6. The OPC should confer with the home team pitch counter after half inning, or when a pitcher is removed, and agree on the number of pitches. If there is disagreement, the OPC makes the final call but should consider the evidence. For example, if both scorekeepers and the home team pitch counter say 25 and the OPC has 27 then the OPC should go with 25. The main thing is keep it friendly and reach agreement.

7. After each half inning, the OPC is to report the cumulative total number of pitches to the plate umpire. Both teams confirm the total.

8. After each game, the pitch totals for each pitcher of both teams are to be submitted by the Pitch Counters of both teams (or the Managers) to the League Director.

9. The League Director will verify there are no discrepancies and see that the data is promptly loaded onto the website.
